REMIXING THE WORLD,
ONE SOUND AT A TIME

Cities and Memory is one of the world’s biggest sound projects. It covers 130 countries and territories. The project includes more than 7,000 sounds and involves more than 2,000 contributing artists.

Our global community of sound artists and musicians have a goal. They aim to remix the world, one sound at a time. They reimagine thousands of field recordings. They create an entirely new form of listening. Cities and Memory is completely open to anyone in the world to take part.

reetings all!

I wanted to share a listening resource that was just highlighted on PBS NewsHour. Imagine you could not see a visual postcard photo from a special place around the world. Instead, envision listening to the sounds of that place. Our hearing becomes so much more critical as we lose our vision, whether for communicating, safety, or for pleasure.

Listening to background sounds, traffic, the wind in the trees, quiet murmurs in a museum and so much more.  These are the kinds of Soundscapes this “Cities And Memories” website offers. It focuses on world heritage sites in the Sonic Heritage project. If interested in trying it,  it’s free and I put the link to the site here:

P.S. No, I don’t make commissions for promoting it. LOL.  I just really liked it.
