AudioVault.Net: On Providing Easy Access to Film and TV Audio Description Vaults

Audio description, also known as video description or descriptive narration. It is a narration track added to videos or live performances. It explains the visual elements for people who are blind or visually impaired. It describes actions, expressions, settings, costumes, and other visual details that are not conveyed through the audio track alone. This allows individuals with visual impairments to understand the complete context of the visual media.

How it works:

  • Audio description is typically inserted during natural pauses in the dialogue or main audio track.
  • It provides concise verbal descriptions of visual elements that are essential for understanding the content.
  • These descriptions can include details about characters’ appearances, actions, facial expressions, setting, and any on-screen text.

Why it matters:

  • Audio description makes media accessible to a wider audience, including people with visual impairments.
  • It allows individuals with visual impairments to fully experience and enjoy movies, TV shows, live performances, and other visual content.
  • It promotes inclusivity and ensures that everyone has access to information and entertainment.

Join the AudioVault. It is free to join; however, donations are greatly appreciated. The site contains the audio-only portion of audio-described film and TV shows. It is not intended to deprive copyright holders or service providers of income. Instead, it is a small project. The site is designed to make it easier for people who are blind and have low vision to find and access audio-described content. This content is spread across multiple platforms and countries.

No video is hosted on the AudioVault site. Nobody profits from this endeavor. It operates on donations from its small user base solely to maintain the site.
